Creches

The Council is running various crèches for Working Mothers in different parts of U.T. as per detail given below

46 Units (Sponsored by Social Welfare Deptt.Chandigarh Administration)

Some of these Creches are being run in labour colonies, villages, Model Jail, Hospitals, CSIO Camps, Punjab & High Court Gate No.-5, IT Park Engg. College etc. Total beneficiaries are about 1319 as on 30.04.2018. Out of the total 46 Creches 34 are in Govt. buildings.
The Council spends Rs.6/- per child per day on nutrition to children in the Creche. However the Council pays a trained Balsevika in a Creche salary of Rs.11000/- on an average and Helpers Rs.7500/- p.m. (minimum wages) as wages against Rs.667/- p.m. GIA received for each post under the scheme. The New Creches programme was started in the year 1975-76 with an objective of providing comprehensive services to children of working mothers. Under this programme children are provided Creche facility, supplementary nutrition and health care clinic funded by the Social Welfare Department, U.T. Chandigarh. The Council is presently running 46 Crèches under plan and non-plan head. Each Creche is under one trained Balsevika and two helpers for unit of 40 children.

Creche Training for students of Canadian Institution

The students are given practical training in different crèches of ICCW. They impart pre-school education, child development and child care training.

Training Centres:-
ICCW, U.T. Branch is also imparting the training to Creche Workers, Aanganwari functionaries of ICDS, In service Training of Balsevikas and Helpers, Organizers of Awareness Generation Programme from Social Welfare Board Punjab, & U.T. are also being undertaken. This centre is recognized by the ICCW, New Delhi & Central Social Welfare Board, New Delhi.


Summer Workshop:-
It is a regular feature of ICCW U.T. Branch to conduct Summer Workshop for children during the summer vacations. At present classes like Bhangra, Art & Craft Personality Development, Theatre, Dance & Music etc. are used to be held during the summer vacations.

Bal Shree Award Competition:-
This Programme is organized in collaboration with National Bal Bhawan, New Delhi. This is a three-tier system i.e Local Level, Zonal Level & National Level in four different creativities i.e Creative Art, Creative Writing, Creative Performance and Creative Scientific Innovation. The Bal Shree Award is given by H.E. President of India. Almost every year, one child from Chandigarh gets Bal Shree Award.

National Painting Competition:-
It is regular feature of ICCW, U.T. Branch to conduct National Painting Competition in collaboration with ICCW, New Delhi. Selected paintings of children are then sent to the ICCW, New Delhi for selection at National Level.

Children Day Celebrations:-
In the month of November every year, Children’s Day celebrations use to be organized at Bal Bhawan. Children from different crèches of ICCW, U.T. Branch , schools and special children participate in different competitions like fun games, fancy dress, story & poem dramatization etc.

Special Lectures:-
Every Month lectures on Child Care, Diseased, Immunization, Personal Environment Hygiene, Mental Health and Social Health etc. were organized by College of Nursing, PGI for Balsevikas of ICCW, U.T. Branch.

Celebration of World Disability Day:-
Every year world disability Day is celebrated on 3rd December at Prayaas to highlight the activities run at Prayaas for the welfare of the disabled children.
